We are seeking a seasoned Software Engineer Level 3 to design, develop, maintain, and enhance complex and diverse software systems, including processing-intensive analytics, real-time systems, large-scale data handling, and business information systems. You will work both independently and as part of a team to design, test, integrate, document, and troubleshoot software components based on defined requirements.
This role involves contributing to system-level design decisions, evaluating COTS/GOTS solutions versus custom development, resolving software issues, and ensuring all products meet performance and quality standards. The ideal candidate has strong technical depth, leadership experience, and the ability to support multiple software development teams in a dynamic environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Analyze user requirements and translate them into software design and performance specifications
Design, code, and modify software to add new features or enhance existing functionality
Debug and correct software defects
Integrate existing software into new or modified systems
Develop database or data repository queries and interfaces
Write, review, and maintain software and system documentation
Lead or contribute to software development teams based on project needs
Develop and implement complex algorithms and performance-critical systems
Develop and execute test procedures for software components
Investigate system performance issues and recommend improvements
Adapt existing software to new hardware or improve performance
Ensure quality control across all developed or modified software
Collaborate with system and hardware engineers to refine requirements and interfaces
Coordinate software installation and verify operational performance
Recommend new technologies or process improvements for complex software projects
Support DevOps processes including build and deployment activities
Build automated CI/CD pipelines and support continuous integration workflows
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field
20+ years of relevant experience (or High School diploma + 24 years)
Proficiency in one or more programming languages: C, C++, C#, Java, Python
Experience developing software for Windows or UNIX environments
Experience with DevOps tools such as Artifactory, Docker, Terraform, Ansible, Packer
Experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins or Bamboo
Strong understanding of software development methodologies and lifecycle processes
Experience designing, implementing, testing, and integrating complex software systems
Ability to lead software development teams and manage technical direction
Strong debugging, problem-solving, and analytical skills
Experience generating or reviewing technical documentation
Clearance Requirement: This position requires ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret/SCI security clearance, based on current background investigation (SBI), as well as the favorable completion of full scope polygraph. Clearance and polygraph processing will be completed by the U.S. Government. Factors considered for a U.S. Government Security Clearance include, but are not limited to:
