Position Overview TAP Engineering is seeking a Technical/Functional Expert – Server to provide senior-level Infrastructure Server and Sustainment support in High Performance Computing (HPC) and enterprise environments. This role supports mission-critical systems across multiple geographically dispersed locations and includes the integration and sustainment of the Exceptionally Controlled Information (ECI) data system. This position serves as a technical authority and subject matter expert, responsible for advanced troubleshooting, system architecture, technology integration, and long-term sustainment planning. The ideal candidate has deep technical expertise, strong design capabilities, and experience supporting complex, highly available environments.
Key Responsibilities
Provide Tier 0–4 support to server teams across all operational sites
Serve as a senior technical escalation point for complex server and infrastructure issues
Provide system design and architecture support
Install, configure, tune, and support enterprise and HPC server platforms
Support direct-attached and SAN-based storage solutions
Design and maintain client/server architectures using NFS and CIFS
Support large memory SMP systems and high-core-count environments
Administer multi-vendor file systems (XFS, GPFS, VXFS)
Support blade systems and associated interconnects (FC, TCP/IP, etc.)
Administer RedHat, SUSE, Solaris, and Microsoft operating systems
Support Microsoft Exchange and enterprise messaging platforms
Support identity and access services (Active Directory, Centrify, DNS, NIS)
Maintain and optimize enterprise monitoring and observability tools
Support virtualization platforms and containerized environments
Support thin client and remote access solutions (Citrix, NoMachine NX)
Collaborate with vendors to evaluate emerging technologies
Architect and lead integration of approved new technologies
Support design phases including evaluation, Government approval, and integration planning
Ensure all systems are integrated with Government monitoring services
Document architecture, procedures, and sustainment processes
Ensure systems meet performance, availability, and security requirements
Required Qualifications
Active TS/SCI clearance with Full Scope Polygraph (most recent poly within the last 7 years)
DoD 8570 IAT II certification
Extensive experience supporting enterprise and HPC server environments
Deep expertise with Linux, Unix, Solaris, and Windows operating systems
Experience with SAN and direct-attached storage solutions
Strong background in system architecture and infrastructure design
Experience supporting virtualization and container technologies
Experience integrating new technologies into production environments
Strong troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and performance tuning skills
Strong documentation and technical communication skills
Ability to support mission-critical systems in a 24/7 operational environment
Ability to collaborate with Government and contractor stakeholders

Clearance Requirement This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret/SCI security clearance with Full Scope Polygraph, based on a current Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI/SBI).
