Position Overview

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Mechanical Engineer to join our team in Columbia, MD, supporting the design and development of mechanical systems for electronic products. This role is well-suited for an early-career engineer who enjoys hands-on work, technical problem-solving, and collaborating with cross-functional engineering teams.

The Mechanical Engineer will support Integrated Product Teams in the design, analysis, manufacture, and testing of digital, RF/analog, and mixed-signal electronics hardware across multiple levels of integration, including chip, PCB, module, chassis, and system-level designs. This position offers strong mentorship, technical growth, and exposure to real-world product development in a collaborative environment.


Key Responsibilities

  • Design mechanical parts, enclosures, and assemblies for electronic systems using SolidWorks

  • Create and update 3D models, 2D drawings, and Bills of Materials (BOMs)

  • Support thermal and structural evaluations through simulation, analysis, or testing

  • Collaborate closely with electrical engineers to ensure proper PCB integration, fit, and mechanical clearances

  • Assist with prototype builds, lab testing, and design verification activities

  • Participate in design reviews and contribute to product improvement discussions

  • Apply best practices in electronics packaging, manufacturability, and material selection


Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline

  • 1–5 years of relevant experience (internships, co-ops, or academic projects accepted)

  • Working knowledge of SolidWorks or similar 3D CAD software

  • Basic understanding of thermal principles and heat dissipation in electronic systems

  • Strong attention to detail and documentation skills

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to work effectively in a team-based engineering environment


Preferred Qualifications

  • Exposure to thermal or FEA tools (e.g., Ansys, FloTHERM, COMSOL)

  • Experience with injection-molded part design

  • Hands-on experience with prototyping, 3D printing, or lab testing

  • Familiarity with fabrication processes such as sheet metal, machining, or injection molding

  • Understanding of electronics packaging or PCB mechanical integration

Clearance Requirement

This position does not require an active clearance at time of hire; however, candidates must be eligible to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance. Clearance processing will be conducted by the U.S. Government.
